I realized my love for dogs, ducks, and all things related to the great outdoors at a young age when my brother and I would join our father afield pursuing waterfowl and upland birds. Hunting alongside a dog, for us, was a way of life. This was the spark which ignited my love of working with dogs that would see me into my adult life. Several years ago I began to work alongside Jim, and following in his footsteps each dog I work with has a training program which is customized to that animal's individual needs. By reading the dog's unique personality I can ensure that it is handled in a way that fosters success rather than using a "cookie cutter" approach. I believe that all dogs are capable of doing what they were bred to do providing we as their owners and handlers help them understand exactly what we are demanding of them.
At this time, I am handling all new clients seeking full time training as well as most private sessions for obedience work, while Jim continues to work with his existing clientele for full time training and offers private sessions for gundogs. When not working with dogs and their owners, I assist Jim with videography, his popular Companion Retriever Hunting Challenge, and seminars/appearances. I am a field staffer for DT Systems and Dakota Decoy Company, and also a member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the North American Hunting Retriever Association. Additionally, I am licensed by NYSDEC as a Leashed Tracking Dog Handler and can assist with the recovery of wounded deer. Each year I can be found handling my own dogs in AKC, NAHRA, and other independent hunt tests. These dogs (a male yellow Labrador and a male Golden Retriever) are both available as studs to approved females.
My wife and 3 children are never far from my side, and we treat this world of dogs and ducks as a family affair. I look forward to using my knowledge and talents to help anyone seeking assistance.
